Proud of our little guy.
The beginning of the month we had our first parent teacher meeting for Caleb. The teacher was very impressed with Caleb. She said he threw off all of her class averages. The average his class could count to was 29. Caleb's said 115+, the plus because she had him stop at 115. lol ABC recognition out of 52 he knew all 52 while the class average was 33. Number he knew all 30 that he was asked to recognize, the class average was 13. The one that surprised me the most was reading. While we knew he could read and do very well at it, his assesment surpised me. His class average was a level 2. Caleb was at a level 5, the books in his classroom only go up to a level 5. So the plan was for Caleb to join a 1st grade class for reading. He has been doing it for about 2 weeks now and is doing awesome! On his first day I got a not home that said he read at a level 6 without any struggles. She said he is doing well with blending in with her class, which was one of my biggest concerns since he is so young. He only made the cut off to enter K by 5 days, so he is probably the youngest one in his class. He is also enjoying going to the 1st grade classroom. On the home front this boy amazes me. He comes home and most of the time does his homework with excitment (I know he isn't mine, right Nancy :) ) and on some days will grab a workbook that we have here at home and do that. Right now he is on a math kick. He has been doing 1st grade math workbooks and has started on a 2nd grade one and is about half way through. We are very proud of him and he amazes us daily with what he knows.
